Halloween- Raggedy Ann and Andy rocked it, want pictures? See Facebook.

Women's Retreat- OVER. It was great. A wonderful time was had by all, or at least it seemed that way. Buffy was AWESOME!

Advent Devotional Guide for Kids- In progress, we have a great group working on it, there will be room to improve, but for the first year, I think it is going to be great.

VBS- We've started talking... June 20-24

House- Still a disaster, but thanks to hardworking dads (mine, his, and him) it is coming along and we hope to be in within the month.

Thanksgiving- Ben and Jessica are coming. It makes the totally ridiculous holiday that Thanksgiving is, a little more bearable. I mean really we celebrate Pilgrims and Indians getting along... what about a few years later when the white people were doling out blankets they infested with small pox?!?!? Whatever, I'll suck it up and eat turkey and candied yams in peace.

Christmas- We are headed out west... I am beside myself in excitement. I LOVE GOING HOME! And we are having a girls excursion to the Nutcracker, so that is going to be great; Halleigh is especially excited about this.

Family- My dad was here last weekend, Ben is here this weekend, my mom will be here then the next two weekends and then that Wednesday we are leaving... So between now and Jan 5th, I'll see someone in my family every weekend. YAY!

In preparation for our trip to the gulf coast next week, I cleaned off the SD card in our camera, and found a few (okay, so several) gems that I had to share... enjoy!

I hate meatloaf...

meatloaf.jpg

... but Miles loves it.

I just think that a giant hunk of ground beef that you cook in a clump and then smother in ketchup to eat is gross.  (As many of you know hamburgers are my favorite meal... they don't count, even though they are clumps of ground beef that I smother in ketchup and eat. They are different due to the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, mayonnaise and a bun that accompany the meat.)  Not to mention that the way it is usually served reminds me of a loaf of bread, meat bread... mmmm! sick

So in order to placate Miles' need and near constant nagging about my unwillingness to make meatloaf, I have decided to try some meatloaf recipes.  One has pesto in it and the other has spinach and mozzarella cheese. I'll let you know how it goes.

Note: This picture makes me laugh because they tried to dress the meatloaf up with a sprig of parsley... oh yeah, that totally makes it look more appetizing.

Note #2: I am being totally melodramatic; I know that there are a lot of people that really like meatloaf. If you are one of those people, I am so glad! As my mom says, "If you don't like it... good, more for the rest!"

Lately, I have had Montana on my mind. In my mind I've gone to Montana, can't you see the sunshine, can't you just feel the moonshine, baby just like a friend of mine... oh wait, wrong state!

I have had a several conversations about our time there recently, and have been fondly recalling what fun people we used to be. ha ha ha

Anyway, here is a video that was the topic of one conversation. Ashley said that she had seen this, and Miles and I couldn't figure out how she had seen it! Low and behold, a little search on youtube and here it is. Miles posted it a couple years ago and then forgot about it. Oh, camping in the snow... is there anything better?

We have undertaken and succeeded in a major organize/ rearrange of our house. It doesn't really look a whole lot different, but it sure feels good.

One of the things that we did was rearrange and go through our books. Miles and I have a TON of books. We have three large book shelves in our room crammed full of books and 16 large boxes in the attic full of books.  It's getting out of hand.

Miles has lots of school books, as we were cleaning I was reading through some of his titles and following is a list of some of my favorite titles, currently on the shelves... (Let me preface this list by saying that I am not making fun of ANY of these books, they are all really interesting books, and Miles enjoyed reading all of them. I just think that they have funny titles)

Manliness and Civilization

Stylin' with CSS

Good Wives

Refusing the Favor

Satchmo Blows up the World

The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man

The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming

When Jesus came, the Corn Mothers went away

Hamlet on the Holodeck

and my personal favorite, Good Wives, Nasty Wenches and Anxious Patriarchs

It is Miles' birthday today... he's 31!

We have a big weekend ahead of us filled with friends and family, we are excited.

To celebrate Miles' birthday, Halleigh and I went to the Durham Bulls FanFest today, with Ashley, Jack, and Louisa. It is a beautiful day today and we had to take advantage of the nice weather and GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!

Below are some pictures of our morning out. I originally was VERY excited to get Halleigh's picture with the Bulls' mascot "Wool E. Bull" but she had a total meltdown when she saw him and wanted nothing to do with him... it was an Easter Bunny incident all over again.
